The crisp foreign air woke me up early
The day rises begin
I look out the kitchen window
and the yellow butterflies
greet me
in ways I want to be
Freely they float
from one plant to another.
They keep the world entertained
with their beauty and lofty wings that take flight.
Then, the pink carnations have
bloomed in pride
O, how pretty they are
in a pot of dampened soil
Fresh from watering
The dew-kissed petals
are refreshing
I touch, not wanting to pluck any from the stems
They are too precious to leave
the soil they have grown in
lest they are restricted in a vase
without the rays of the morning
sunshine to empower their beauty even more.
And I think
The grass has never been greener on the other side.
