I think about him
On days cold
when the North wind blows
when I feel the chill
the calling from another land.
Was it you?
He smiled through
the dark days
He was Mama's boy
Lovable and Generous
He gave without thinking.
It's easy to make money
he told me many times
But to hold the hands of
a loved one
the clock ticks
as if to say
Not always will that
hand be there to clasp yours tightly
someday you will have to let go.
Your time or mine
is limited.
We hold each other
for a measure of time
accounted for.
I now recall his songs
and wonder
do you have one of yours
I can share the music
and hope the words fill your soul
wherever you are.
You were the dreamer
and so am I
wishing for the time we had together
to come back
to fill our lives
with laughter.
Once more.
For Des.
